John Denver became a star through the folk-inspired songs he wrote, most of them located in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a Mexican-born musician and singer who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's songs that he sang about his state brought many people to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the curator of this hall of fame said: "I don't believe there is another performer that embodies Colorado in the same way as John Denver." Denver was the Hall of Fame's first to be inducted into the hall. Denver is now the embodiment of Colorado to the many people across the globe. When you encounter people from different countries, such as New Zealanders, and they tell them "I come from Colorado" and they immediately respond with Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a brief career performing in small folk-based group was Take Me Home Country Roads co-written with Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the tune to Johnny Cash but Denver recognized its potential after hearing it first. The song was performed in Washington D.C. to a large audience, Denver recorded it just days later.
